The economic realities of providing quality health care in today's complex health care environment has generated an increased focus on inpatient care. Hospitalists, physicians specializing in inpatient medicine, are assuming the responsibilities of managing in patient care in greater numbers, allowing primary care physicians to focus almost exclusively on providing outpatient care.

South Counties Pediatric Critical Care Medical Group (SCPCC) is a team of highly qualified physicians who specialize in pediatric inpatient medicine.

Collectively, our physicians have over 100 years of experience and have treated more than 75,000 critically ill pediatric patients. Our hospitalist model of care is cost-effective and dedicated to improving patient outcomes.


Our Inpatient Care Services

SCPCC uses an evidence based approach to care and has designed a pediatric hospitalist model that include the following services:

  • Daily inpatient rounds and management of all aspects of inpatient care.
  • Case management and appropriate consultations.
  • 24-hour coverage for hospital calls and admissions.
  • Outpatient and inpatient conscious sedation services.
  • 24-hour transport with team led by a pediatric intensivist.
  • Continuous communication with primary care physicians to ensure continuity of patient care and referral back to primary care physicians after discharge.
  • Access to subspecialists in a wide geographical area encompassing Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Our Education and Support Services

SCPCC is committed to continuing education and the advancement of pediatric inpatient medicine. We provide the following education and support services:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) classes.
  • Education programs to prepare emergency department staff to care for critically ill and injured pediatric patients.
  • Continuing education courses for physicians (CME), nursing, and ancillary staff.
  • Ongoing research projects affiliated with National Institutes of Health (NIH) Grants.
